Port Blair is the capital of Andaman and Nicobar islands. It is one of the Union Territories of India and it is situated in the Indian Ocean. Including the 38 permanently inhabited islands, it is a cluster of more than 570 islands. Though these islands were earlier used by the British as a remote prison for the Indian Independence fighters, the island has changed totally and has taken a new shape thereby attracting thousands of worldwide tourists. The island has a number of beautiful scenic spots along with the well known and the only active volcano located at Barren Island. Andaman and Nicobar is also commonly known as the “Paradise on Earth”. Being an attractive tourist spot, the island has a good collection of high class resorts and restaurants.
