Punjab is located in the North Western part of India in the borders of Pakistan. Punjab is an ancient state more than 4000 years old that shows evidences of the existence of the magnificent cities Harappa and Mohenjodaro. Chandigarh is the capital of the state. The official language of the state is Punjabi though Hindi, English and Urdu are widely spoken. Punjab is a fertile plain with four rivers flowing across the state namely, Ravi, Beas, Sutluj and Ghaggar. These rivers, Ravi, Beas and Sutluj enter Punjab via Himachal Pradesh. Black Buck and Baz (Eastern Goshawk) is the state animal and bird of Punjab respectively. The state is also well known for the world famous ‘Golden Temple’ located at Amritsar. Pushpa Gujral Science City is another famous place visited by the tourists.
