Andhra Pradesh is the fourth largest state of the country by area and the fifth largest state by population. The state has the lengthiest coastline among all the states in India. Hyderabad, the Pearl City of India, is the capital of Andhra Pradesh. The region was declared as a State in 1956. Telugu and Urdu are the official languages of the state. Telugu, a Sanskrit influenced language, was described by C.P. Brown as the "Italian of the East". Kuchipudi is the traditional dance of Andhra Pradesh. Andhra Pradesh, being the largest producer of rice in India, is called the ‘rice bowl’ of India. The state is abundant with the natural resources. The two great rivers contributing to the state’s prosperity are the rivers Krishna and Godavari. India’s fourth largest Port at Vishakhapatnam is in Andhra Pradesh.
